:+[ القسم الاسلامي]+: ![]() | ?What’s After Ramadan What’s After Ramadan? My dear brothers & sisters! Subhan-Allah, how the days and nights pass so quickly; just yesterday, we were receiving Ramadaan and today we are bidding it farewell and we do not even know whether we are going to live to witness the next Ramadaan. We ask Allaah to accept our fasting, our prayers and whatever good we did during this month and we beseech Allaah to allow to us have many more Ramadans to come. ![]() All righteous deeds should be concluded with Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness). Prayers, Hajj, night prayers and meetings, all are concluded with it. Fasting should also be concluded with Al-Istighfaar to amend for any acts of forgetfulness, negligence and perversion we might have committed. Al-Istighfaar erases feeling of arrogance and pretension from the heart and lets one feel that one is negligent. It is this very feeling that leads to doing more righteous deeds after Ramadaan and getting more rewards. Ibn Al Qayyim, while explaining man’s need for Istighfaar said, “Having pleasure and ,,,,,,,edness for merely doing an act of obedience is of the weaknesses of the mind and its stupidity, for, the resolute and knowledgeable people do more Istighfaar immediately after each act of worship because they recognize their negligence and their failure to give Allaah what befits His Majesty and Greatness in that act.” ![]() My dear brothers & sisters! Though we are now bidding farewell to Ramadaan, this does not mean a farewell to the acts of worship. A Muslim should rather strengthen the ties between himself and his Lord so that he may have a perpetual blessing. As for those who break their covenant with their Lord and abandon the Masjid as soon as Ramadaan ends, such are evil people who know their Lord only in Ramadaan and afterwards turn their backs towards him. Allaah says, “Say (O Muhammad): Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allaah, the Lord of all the worlds.” (Al-An‘aam: 161). There is no value in an act of worship by which one does not increase in piety and fear of Allaah. What excuse does one have when he can make it to the Masjid during Ramadan but fails to do so afterwards? Where is the impact of fasting when one abandons the recitation of the Qur’aan, no longer observes the congregational prayers and still uses fowl language when speaking? Where is the impact of his acts of worship in Ramadaan when he afterwards accepts interest? Where is the impact of Ramadaan when he abandons the path of the Messenger of Allaah (SAW) for local customs and traditions and governs his life with man-made laws? Where is the effect of fasting and night prayers when one engages in cheating and lying? ![]() The bottom line is: what is the point of abandoning food & water if we cannot abandon falsehood? My dear brothers & sisters! Allaah does not need the movements and efforts that we make in our acts of worship. He only requests our piety thereof. He says, “O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it is prescribed for those who were before you that you may have piety.” (Al-Baqarah: 183). He also says, “It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allaah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.” (Al-Hajj: 37). ![]() Thus, the end of Ramadan should not mean the end of striving for the sake of Allah (SWT). Of the good deeds that are recommended after Ramadaan is fasting for six days in the month of Shawwaal. The Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said, “He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal, it would be as if he fasted perpetually.” (Muslim) Ramadaan has taught us great lessons and admonitions. It taught us how to resist our desires, so we should not let them take over again. It taught us how to eliminate differences amongst ourselves, so we should not become disunited again. The eyes have shed tears during Ramadaan, so we should not let them become dry after it; mosques have become shaken during Ramadaan and the tongues were engaged in remembrance of Allaah, praising Him and invoking Him, so let this continue after Ramadaan. By remaining steadfast in our dedication to doing good, we’ll ultimately be rewarded with the greatest reward from Allah (SWT), that is paradise. As Allah (SWT) said in the Quran: “This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world).” (Az-Zukhruf: ![]() My dear brothers & sisters, we will soon be celebrating the end of Ramadaan with Eid Al-Fitr. While doing that, we must not forget the sunnah of the Prophet (SAW) and follow his recommendations for the night of Eid and its day: It is recommended to glorify Allaah (SWT) from the sunset of the day prior the day the Eid prayer is performed. Allaah says, “That you must magnify Allaah [i.e. to say: Allaahu Akbar; Allaah is the Most Great] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.” (Al-Baqarah: 185). ![]() Abdullaah Ibn Mas‘ood used to say, “Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Laa Ilaaha Illa Allaah, Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Walillaahil Hamd” [Allaah is the Most Great, Allaah is the Most Great. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah, Allaah is the Most Great, Allaah is the Most Great. Praise be to Allaah]. منقول |
